At the 2016 International Assembly of the Church of God, Bishop Powell was appointed as the Administrative Bishop for the Church of God in Missouri.
He is a native of Albany, GA, and is married to Jessica Faye (Ogden) Powell. He and his wife have two children, a daughter and her husband, Tori and Jacob, as well as a son and his wife, Trey and Monte. They also have one grandchild, Sawyer, who is the light of their life.
Bishop Powell graduated from Westover High School in Albany and is an alumnus of Lee University and the Pentecostal Theological Seminary, both in Cleveland, TN. He began his credentialed ministry in 1980 and has served the Church of God as State Evangelist in Virginia, full time evangelist in South Georgia, and as pastor in North and South Georgia for 29 years. He also has served as District Overseer, State Youth & Christian Education Board Member, State Evangelism & Home Missions Board Member, and State Council Member in both North and South Georgia. He has served as the Administrative Bishop of the Rocky Mountain Region for the past four years. Bishop Powell has also served as a member of the International Chaplains Commission for the past ten years.
